Who should attend
Anyone who writes for the web, who needs to format content for other digital media, who has to prepare photos for uploading or who is required to collate information for web publishing.
Skills required
This course is designed for a non-technical audience, and covers a range of media. You will need basic competence in operating a computer, which covers basic file management, using standard software such as a word processor and using a web browser.
Learning outcomes
- Writing: using a simplified markup language, you will be able to format the written word for publishing on the web, so that you can create HTML. This will include headings, links, quotes, lists and images.
- Images: you will be able to distinguish between vector and bitmap graphics, and understand the different file formats for different types of graphics & photos.
- Photos: you will learn to retouch a photograph (adjusting the contrast and colour), crop, resize and save in a web-suitable format.
All techniques will be taught using Free Software that will be made available free of charge to all students.
