Who should attend
Graphic designers who need a foundation in web technologies and terminology, and an understanding of how visual design translates into web pages.
Skills required
A background in graphic design, familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and/or Adobe Illustrator, a working knowledge of how to navigate the web.
Learning outcomes
- Web technologies: An awareness of how the web works in principle, server-side technologies in general and front-end technologies in particular.
- Designing pages for the web: An understanding of the essential restraints & freedoms of designing for a web browser, and how these affect the visual design process.
- Front-end technologies: How to easily generate valid HTML, and hands-on experience of creating Cascading Style Sheets.
All techniques will be taught using Free Software that will be made available free of charge to all students
